Description
2nd Saturday Bookbinding Workshop: "Earth Day” Books (made from all-recycled materials)
Saturday, April 13, 2019 (12:00 Noon-3:00 PM)
Join us for an afternoon of making books wholly with recycled materials. Collect and bring a wide range of materials and then make and decorate a book structure of your choice. Recycled items might include magazines and newspapers, old books, plain and decorative papers, cloth of all kinds, string, ribbons, and cord, old file folders, cardboard, wood, plastic, metal, twigs and stems, and much, much more. Let your imagination run free. Some knowledge of bookbinding would be helpful but beginners are welcome--help will be available for making simple books.
Basic tools will be available (scissors, awls, cutters, bone folders), but bring any special tools you might need for your project. Glue sticks might be useful for some projects.

Organized by
Virginia Humanities is the state humanities council. We’re headquartered in Charlottesville at the University of Virginia, but we serve the entire state.
We aim to share the stories of all Virginians—or, better yet, find ways for people to share their own stories. We want Virginians to connect with their history and culture and, in doing that, we hope we’ll all get to know each other a little better.
